To pull from another repo add the hostname of your registry to the <span class=\"codeinline\">docker pull<\/span> command, i.e <span class=\"codeinline\">docker pull registry.www.fir3net.com\/busybox<\/span> <sup>[1]<\/sup><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Push\"><\/span>Push<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To move images from repository to repository <span class=\"codeinline\">docker push<\/span> is used. Below shows the steps in involved in pushing an image to a repository,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Authenticate<\/strong> &#8211; If required by the repository, authentication is performed with the <span class=\"codeinline\">docker login<\/span> command.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tag<\/strong> &#8211; Next the repository and a tag is supplied to the <span class=\"codeinline\">docker tag<\/span> command.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Push<\/strong> &#8211; Finally <span class=\"codeinline\">docker push<\/span> is used to push the image to the repository.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Here is an example,<\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">\/\/ LOGIN\r\n$ docker login https:\/\/registry.fir3net.com\r\nUsername: felix001\r\nPassword: \r\nLogin Succeeded\r\n\r\n\/\/ TAG\r\n$ docker tag busybox registry.fir3net.com\/busybox-v0.0.1\r\n\r\n\/\/ PUSH\r\n$ docker push registry.fir3net.com\/busybox-v0.0.1\r\nThe push refers to a repository [registry.fir3net.com\/busybox-v0.0.1] (len: 1)  \r\nSending image list  \r\nPushing repository registry.fir3net.com\/busybox-v0.0.1 (1 tags)  \r\nd3a1f33e8a5a: Image successfully pushed  \r\nc22013c84729: Image successfully pushed  \r\nd74508fb6632: Image successfully pushed  \r\n91e54dfb1179: Image successfully pushed  \r\nPushing tag for rev [91e54dfb1179] on {https:\/\/registry.fir3net.com\/v1\/repositories\/busybox-v0.0.1\/tags\/latest}<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Host_to_Host\"><\/span>Host to Host<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>With host to host, we can take a local image or container and then load (or import) it to another docker environment.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Export_vs_Save\"><\/span>Export vs Save<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Ok, so lets look at the <span class=\"codeinline\">docker export<\/span> and <span class=\"codeinline\">docker save<\/span> commands,<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"codeinline\">docker export<\/span> saves the running or paused instance <sup>[2]<\/sup> of a <strong>CONTAINER to<\/strong> a TAR-file.<br \/>\n<span class=\"codeinline\">docker save<\/span> saves an <strong>IMAGE<\/strong> to a TAR-file.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an example of both,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Export<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">$ docker ps\r\nCONTAINER ID        IMAGE               COMMAND \r\n5e8f397be6fa        busybox             \"sh\"   \r\n\r\n$ docker export 5e8f397be6fa -o busybox-container.tar<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Save<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">$ docker images\r\nREPOSITORY                            TAG                 IMAGE ID\r\nbusybox                               latest              e02e811dd08f\r\n\r\n$ docker save -o busybox-image.tar busybox<\/pre>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Import_vs_Load\"><\/span>Import vs Load<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Finally the commands <span class=\"codeinline\">docker import<\/span> and <span class=\"codeinline\">docker load<\/span> are used inline with the TAR-file previous created.
