<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfc-editor.org\/rfc\/rfc7908.txt\">RFC7908<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Within this article we will look at 2 methods of route leaking within an MPLS environment &#8211; <strong>static routes<\/strong> and <strong>route maps<\/strong>. To demonstrate both methods we will look at 2 different scenarios.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"uk-badge\">NOTE <\/span> Our scenarios will be based upon Figure 1. Static routes are created and then redistributed into the necessary IGP instance(s), in our case OSPF.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Example\"><\/span>Example<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Within our example we will configure route leaking in order for our Provider 1 router to access a resource from within our customer site &#8211; CE COSTA1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Figure 2. We then redistribute the route into OSPF so that P1 is aware.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">ip route 100.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 GigabitEthernet0\/2 10.0.0.17  router ospf 1  redistribute static subnets<\/pre>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"PE2_%E2%80%93_Redistribute_Route_Back_to_Provider\"><\/span>PE2 &#8211; Redistribute Route Back to Provider<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Next we create a route to point back to P1. We then redistribute this route into the OSPF VRF instance, to ensure the route is propagated back to our CE.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"prettyprint\">ip route vrf 100:COSTA 10.0.0.28 255.255.255.252 GigabitEthernet0\/3 10.0.0.26\r\n\r\nrouter ospf 100 vrf 100:COSTA\r\n redistribute static subnets<\/pre>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Route_Maps\"><\/span>Route Maps<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Next let us look at route maps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"quote\">A route map defines which of the routes from the specified routing protocol are allowed to be redistributed into the target routing process.<\/p>\n<p>Now, to demonstrate route maps lets look at an example.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Example-2\"><\/span>Example<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Within this example a customer will create a new network. This network will be leaked to another customer. The interesting part to this is as both <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">customers reside within separate VRFs<\/span> on the Provider Edge routers we will need to route leak between VRFs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Figure 3. Lets break it down.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A route map is created.
